Swedish PodX Group To Acquire Majority Stake In Lemonada Media, Marking U.S. Market Entry
PodX Group, a Stockholm-based international podcast company, plans to acquire a majority stake in Lemonada Media, positioning the Swedish company for its first entry into the U.S. market.
Lemonada ranks among the top three independent podcast networks in the United States based on audience and revenue metrics.
“This is a landmark transaction, once completed, and will take both PodX and Lemonada into an even greater trajectory,” Patrick Svensk, CEO of PodX Group, said in a press release. “The partnership is a significant step toward our vision of a truly international podcast group.”
According to Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the matter, the deal will be worth around $30 million.
Lemonada to Maintain Existing Structure
Founded in 2019 by Jessica Cordova Kramer and Stephanie Wittels Wachs, Lemonada Media has launched over 50 original podcasts alongside nearly 40 partner shows, including “Confessions of a Female Founder” with Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex.
Following the acquisition, Lemonada will continue operating under its existing leadership, team, and brand while leveraging PodX Group’s international infrastructure.
“Joining the PodX network would mark an exciting new chapter in Lemonada’s story,” Cordova Kramer and Wittels Wachs stated. “When the deal is done, we will be PodX’s first U.S. partner, and we’re proud to bring our authentic storytelling approach to the existing global family.”
Media Footprint
The acquisition follows Lemonada’s recent expansion into book publishing through a partnership with Simon & Schuster announced in July 2024. Under this arrangement, Lemonada Books operates as an imprint under Gallery Books, with initial offerings including titles based on the podcasts “Fail Better” and “Last Day.”
PodX Group, founded in 2021, has previously acquired podcast studios across Europe and Latin America, including Nouvelles Écoutes in France, Posta in Argentina, and multiple studios in the UK and Nordic regions.
